That's an interesting question. I've always assumed that one's degree isn't that important, and most things need to be learned on the job anyway. So in that sense perhaps an accounting degree might be redundant, someone might have been better learning something else while they had the chance. Still, I wouldn't bet against an accounting degree, it just seems solid.

Really good thoughts here. Thanks for the input. I like the term "solid" for the accounting degree and I tend to agree. I think that changes my opinion a little!

This is a crazy take. Accounting is the foundation of finance.
Accounting degree is probably the best degree to get if you want to have a job after graduation. It is also very easy to pivot to other fields.
No clue what could happen in the future, but I promise AI isn’t automating all my work. I will say that very basic reconciliation and bookkeeping will be the first to go.

Makes sense. So some elements will be automated but it sounds like there's much more that you do that can't be replaced.

I think accounting degrees still have their value. Yes AI might replace a lot of the menial tasks, but it’s still good to understand the concepts.

Definitely a fair point and I tend to agree!
