What agencies are hiring financial analyst
What should my requested salary be for a Senior Intelligence Analyst position with CrowdStrike ? I have a bachelors degree and 5 years of experience as an intelligence analyst. Current salary is 56k in NC, but when I was in DC I was making 86k (big locality change)… which makes me confused on what I should expect for a remote job.
What's the salary range for a director at the Gilead Sciences foundation? There is a position perfect for me, but I don't want to throw my hat in the ring if starting salary isn't $180-190k. Also, any thoughts on the stability of their philanthropic commitment? There's talk of a recession; I don't want to go private to be cute a few months later.

I'm glad to hear it, but I think this constant flip-flopping has completely eroded trust in the administration. I expect new grads and private sector candidates will think twice before applying for government roles given the chaotic state of current affairs. I also expect a lot of federal employees to be kicking their job searches into high gear, if they haven't already. This is a nice headline, but it should be clear at this point that no government employee is safe - even those who just got rehired.
I had a job contract w USDA as the lead on a Partnerships for Climate-Smart Commodities grant and our contract is "Paused", no formal cut, no reimbursements since the one processed through the end of December. I wrote the grant and secured my position at a private company that works in ag and food, and they are making up some of the slack in sales and didn't have to let go of everyone, but my work was 100% on this project so now I'm on unemployment and looking (two young teens, no husband, so I can't afford to miss more than one or two checks....] the instability sucks. My job might reappear tomorrow or it might never and I have no idea.

So glad to hear it! People can pay their mortgages and put food on the table… can’t imagine there’s 24k additional positions available in the private sector for these folks when businesses aren’t excited to spend with the current chaos
It's good news, but the havoc Elon has caused is still ongoing. And we're at the point where the administration is ignoring judges and even threatening them. The Chief Justice had to put out a statement today to tamp some of that down. It's just chaos and that seems to be Elon's goal. Anyone is free to speculate about what his motivations or loyalties might be.
I think it’s past time for businesses and the government to reconsider the workforce as a flexible commodity that can be simply illuminated at will. Other countries give more time off, better benefits, and somehow all people to enjoy life. Do better America
But the "other countries" make far less money than in the US and their costs are the same, so the "enjoy" a lower standard of living. I you have the talent to earn more money, you should change jobs or start a business.
When I first heard about the reversal, I couldn’t help but think about all the people impacted. 24,000 is a huge number. Long-term, I hope it leads to better onboarding, clearer expectations, and more support.
It won’t matter much in the grand scheme of things, when the RIF (reduction in force) in a month or two all those same people will be the first to be downsized again unfortunately. Firing them as probationary just meant they didn’t have any rights to severance packages, that was a cost saving measure similar to the VERA and buyout options. if someone takes a buyout offer they forfeit rights to severance but lets say you are downgraded to a lower gs level or told your job is moving to another state and can’t accept those terms for whatever reason, if you refuse it is basically saying you quit, and if you quit you won’t get severance either. They are going to throw everything out there at civ servants to ensure that they get rid of them the cheapest way possible. weight your options and good luck.
This. Their already having TIGTA investigate remaining agents for any security violations. Such as not locking your computer with the lock or leaving you keyboard around. They're trying to find any reason to fire you. Add in the fact the president just signed executive orders for 7 agencies to downside just last week. It literally RIF going to start. On May 15th their going to fire as many of the filing clerks and probationary employees there. So at best this is a 2 to 3 month before we're RIF again. Wonder how the sign on bonus is going to go
If you enjoy being fired twice from the same job within a few months, you should consider a new job outside of the government. It concerns me a bit that most of these govt employees didn't take the 9 months severance offered in the original package. That seems like a deal.
If you didn't take the package, what was your alternative - getting RIF's with no severance? They made an offer to the entire federal workforce - they're not gonna renege on that. No employee has a contract unless they have a collective bargaining agreement. I'm still puzzled why 80% of the dfed workforce didn't take the package and then go work for the contracting companies who are gonna take over the work.
Find a job, long term it's over...
Unless there's serious consequences for the administration (something they're unlikely to accept even if Congress started having the will to force it) they're likely going to attempts something similar again. I very much hope its the first step of serious push back but I doubt it. The interruption of work and loss of services means the cost to both government activities and the impacted individuals and families is far higher then the numbers indicate.
In a more grand scheme, I know this has me questioning the idea that government jobs are "the stable option", and considering stability and benefits are the supposed advantage government jobs have over private sector it's likely going to impact the quality of people who seek government jobs.
