I think this is a simple case of ‘get over it’. Sometimes one idea answers the brief better than another, or one is stretching the brand guidelines a little too much so therefore might not make sense to be the first thing clients see. There are a multitude of reasons why your idea might not get to go first just because you ‘finished first’. And sometimes one is just better than another 🤭 Sorry not sorry. It’s a collaborative effort and you just sound like the opposite of a team player in this post.
Haha fair enough, it still seems like that would all be talked about in an internal, but if it’s a common occurrence of the same someone doing it, I’d bring it up with your manager (who I’m assuming would also be their manager(ish) if you’re both creatives).

Just ask the CD what he/she wants the order of the creative to be.

No collab decks. They squash creativity. I can drop the ideas in once needed.
10 mins before the meeting drop your ideas into Miro.
I think it’s good deck etiquette to add comments on slides instead of going ahead and changing stuff without letting anyone know. On the flip side, it’s good etiquette to address comments quickly and complete those comments.
Changing the work (unless the slide itself is collaborative) is pretty bad as well. But some might say “get over it” 🙄
Don’t edit my slides unless you discuss it with me first. It’s disrespectful to the individual to think that their thought process or narrative can just be erased without anyone attempting to understand the “why.”
I literally had someone completely edit over all of my slides after I was up until 2am the night prior working on it. No discussion at all…I logged in mid day and it was COMPLETELY different. I lost it. I’ve never been that mad at a coworker 😂.
It has to go somewhere. Wouldn’t you prefer your concept to be last?
I tell my teams the order is first come first serve. I’ve see the most problems arise when there are two concepts that are VERY similar, because the one that’s presented first is the “original” and the one presented last is the “copy.” (In which case I just “merge” both ideas and put the matter to rest)
Are you a junior cause lol
Honestly, I agree with you 1000% and it irks the ever living crap out of me when other people do this so everyone saying get over it can kiss it bc I’m here to say amen.
Please, just collaborate. Find a way where you can.
Found the one who constantly jumps the queue then says “Calm down, we’re all going to the same place.”
A good creative director or ECD will sort out the strong ideas and weed out the week regardless of order.
Order is more important when presenting to client, and that is decided by multiple people before going in. And there’s is likely only going to be a select few if you want to keep the meeting going in the right direction.
As a design director I have the dual task of designing concepts and maintaining the deck.
I typically throw my work in after others. In reality it is of no consequence as the agency select is the concept we lead with.
Sometimes it is my work sometimes it is a designer’s. In the end it is all about the business and not ourselves or our egos.
Goodness. That seems petty. Normally you’d organize the concepts in a strategic way to have them build off one another or go from safe to less safe, etc.
👆Well that opener was oddly specific, hahaha
Why don’t you just re-rearrange the deck?
Another solution is to add your work to the deck at the last minute to avoid anyone copying - and be aware that similar ideas happen all the time.
If they’re always dropping in work that mimics yours, then yeah, that’s bad, and might warrant taking your concerns to your CD with your partner.
Coworkers can be problematic, but stressing over whose idea gets presented first is petty, and frankly, immature and coming from inexperience.
