McKinsey & Company I am joining the McKinsey & Company Boston office in late July and searching for housing in the meantime. If I could get some insight on the ratio of days in the office vs work from home that would be super helpful!
If I need to come into the office regularly I will try to find a place close by.

I started interview in November and finally joined in Feb.
I went from application to first round interview in less than 3 weeks a couple months ago, 6 weeks application to offer. I think it likely depends on the office and sense of urgency in the group you’re hiring for.
My recruiter was extremely responsive. Often responding within a few hours. From our first correspondence to my offer was just under 3 months. They made sure to give me enough time to prep for each interview because this was totally new for me

I had first contact with a recruiter in January and didn’t have first round until June or July. It’s totally dependent of the recruiting situation and a lot of stuff going on in the background (you can imagine now with covid that recruiting targets are in flux). If you haven’t gotten rejected just keep up with practicing cases and your PEI and follow up with your recruiter every 1-2 weeks.
Thanks - this was helpful. For more context - I was told the role MIGHT be put on pause to re-evaluate headcount but would be told definitively by end of last week. it’s been a week since that note. I sent a follow-up but no response. I also saw the role being posted recently with the headline “actively recruiting” on LI, so not sure what’s up. Might be that a practice specific role isn’t as urgent but still a little annoyed by the lack of communication.
worth it to apply for a generalist associate role in the meantime or wait on current recruiter to get back to me? difficult to play the waiting game
Don’t expect them to be too chatty. They have jobs other than just holding applicants’ hands.
I get it. Being “chatty” was mostly a euphemism. But trust the process, you’re not going to be forgotten and they usually some time between rounds and are radio silent. That being said, when this is all done don’t be afraid to let you recruiting experience influence who you pick. That was certainly the case with me.
