What has been your easiest and worst clients to work with?

For me - Westrock (procurement function) has been the easiest and gep is having great time since last few years getting easy $ for lot of procurement work. Nicest and easiest stakeholders to work with .... that I've rarely come across till now in consulting/implementation services work.

Tough/challenging clients to work with have been many...

Easiest was a startup that existed to get bought - mission accomplished. Worked hard, but the clients were very appreciative of the work. Hardest, bar none, a very well funded nonprofit organization. My heart rate picked up just typing this.

When I was at EY the best one I worked with was NY state gov. Slow as sheit, simple work, old systems no one actually cared about. NY was throwing money at us just for fun at some BS just because someone wanted a payday or kickbacks. Hardest one was Microsoft by a long run

Similar situation at westrock... client is super easy to keep satisfied & happy with basic/shitty work GEP does that most clients would give a hard time for. Govt clients are understandable but hard to come by such cases in private/publicly listed co I guess...

A quick note about what I’ve experienced, in my decade long career, is the real advantage of MBB or FAANG - it gives you a shot at stretch roles that are outside your expertise. Not all the time or even most of the time compared to better candidates with specific experience for the role but gives you this wildcard shot at a vast array of opportunities.

Now cleared client round and got email confirmation from HCL PM on offer. HR discussion is about to start.

So i have been fortunate that i have managed to go through my career without the need for a degree. I was lucky enough to have been hired by one of the worlds top consulting firms, worked with a whole lot of big clients and travelled a lot. It's gotten to the point where I am not even asked about the lack of a degree on my resume. Personally though, it bothers me. I have a whole bunch of certifications in my industry…but just no formal degree. (cont'd)
