What is being a conflicts attorney like at a large firm? Is it 9-5? Still horrible hours? Looking to slow down a bit and not exactly sure if a conflicts attorney has the same sort of work schedule as an associate. Thanks!

Conflicts attorneys I know have very chill schedules (especially as compared to partners and associates) but the work is pretty boring and it’s kind of a career dead end.

As an assistant I worked extensively with our conflicts departments in two different big firms. It is painfully thankless, and in my experience never 9-5. Services were usually available between 6 or 7a until 7 or 8p. Because it's primarily internal communication the professionalism that might otherwise be present in client communications is nowhere to be found and people are rude and impatient. That said, the assignments are only a few days long at most, and the information is all searchable so you generally don't need to retain the details of most of it.

I am not embracing the notion that you shouldn't have to code to do data science. However, I think coding may soon be much less of a competitive advantage.

First time visiting this city so it’d be great to take in some sights too (although that’s not a priority of course).
