“Bah humbug” is a catchphrase from Ebenezer Scrooge, a character in Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol (1843).
Thank you so much. Better explanation than I could find anywhere else :)
I’ve never wanted something to be a joke so bad in my life. I weep for the future.
Webgraphic designer 1:
I wouldn’t know why this would make you weep for the future. Seems a bit dramatic.
We’re on the internet. The internet is global. The world doesn’t revolve around your culture. (I would even say Americans like you know less about other cultures than people in the rest of the world know about yours.)
I guess everyone wants diversity until someone doesn’t know a line from a Christmas Carroll and someone else starts weeping over it lol.
Open the schools!!!!
Hahahah
I am seriously stunned that someone has to ask this question.
Have the best time in Indonesia. It's a beautiful place, truly. And yes, it will help you get out of your American brain for sure haha.
You know to inhale after you exhale, right?
Hahah is it really that sinful to not know what Bah Humbug is? I'm shook
To go deeper than just an angry growl from Scrooge, it was used as a term for something that was a known to be a swindle, or cheat. For suckers. That was how Scrooge saw Christmas itself: nothing but a phony day made up to steal from him.
Highly recommend READING A Christmas Carol, rather than watching any of the seemingly countless versions. The book is far more visual than any movie.
OP, where are you from?
I'm from Indonesia but have been living in the US for the past 7 years.
Really? You don’t know the story of “A Christmas Carol”? Weird.
OP is from Asia. It's not weird at all. The world does not revolve around western cultural references and literature.
Looks like SI
Yep! It’s been established.

This year, my mom got me a bottle of coke for Christmas…. And I got dental caries in my lateral incisor that ate through the enamel and dissolved my dentin.
Another example of how big the Coca-Cola brand is worldwide and is more known than “A Christmas Carol”.
