It's all about relationships and referrals. Covid doesn't change that, just how I meet with people.
I have been getting more new clients this year than ever before—all from referrals from current clients and COI’s. I have been ultra focused on showing value to clients and helping COI’s with info. I am in a divorce planning group and I help out on several committees to stay front of mind. I get 1-2 referrals a month from the group. It is not a quick fix but pays off if you put the time into it.
A lot of our advisors still rely on radio. Success here depends on location. Other advisors have embraced digital marketing and digital webinars.
Cold calling.
I find just being honest and upfront works best. “Work with a wealth management team here in town. We specialize in helping people get organized for retirement. Is that something you’ve given thought to?” It’s not really about what you say it’s just making the calls.
I always recommend having 5 - 10 different sources of new clients in place...so you always have a dependable flow of prospects, appointments and new clients:
1. Referral campaigns with clients
2. Linkedin
3. Facebook
4. COI referrals (this can be 5 - 10 by itself!)
5. Email campaigns
6. Leveraging local networks
7. Working with organizations
8. SEO
9. Offering Lead Magnets
10.Podcasts and interviews
...to name a few.
