What is the difference between associate manager and manager levels?

New Senior 3 here, I am unsure what I should try to specialize in out of the FAAS offerings. They all sound pretty interesting, and it seems like most manager+ level are aligned with a service pillar. Which of the below would provide best exit opp / pay?

1. TAAG: Technical accounting
2. Transactions: Assume this is deals support like CMAAS?
3. ESG and Sustainability
4. Finance Optimization (ERP Implementation)
5. Treasury / Risk Management / Financial instrument (not sure about details tho)

Anyone here work at Big D in either the M&A FDD group or the ARA group? I’m a year in having spent 6 months each in my firm’s FDD and accounting advisory groups. I’ve been approached by a Deloitte recruiter for either of those two groups and I’m definitely interested if it means at least a 10-15% pay bump. My main question is about the work life balance. For AAS it was pretty great, didn’t work late much and when I did it was never past 8. FDD was a bit more chaotic.

I had an interview a regulatory agency (known for a very slow recruiting process). I had my first interview this past Monday (3/8) and they said they will reach out with next steps. I followed up today with the recruiter today, should I be worried?

Moving to Dallas. Thoughts on McKinney? Have a family. Care about safety, things to do for kids I.e. parks, new ish vibes. For reference, we are in love with Frisco. Is McKinney comparable?

I’ve always avoided annuities but think this one from NY Life is interesting. It’s called a Variable Investment Fund and you can add an Investment Preservation Rider for a fee. The IPR guarantees your investment return will at least be the cash you put in.

Typical portfolio returns about 7.5% after all fees. The commission fee is 2%.

So you are attenuating some upside and paying a pretty hefty fee, but you are insuring agains the downside.

Question for TSG folks - I'm considering applying to TSG. Do I have to use a recruiter (external or internal) or can I apply on my own? I think I can have more bargaining power if I apply on my own without having the recruiter in the middle since TSG would have to pay them too, right?

Really kind of shocking that management would bring in three pretty conservative speakers. I mean, we know where Rob and they stand, but I thought MYJourney was about building us up as leaders and finding what makes us happy and succeed, not just throwing politics right in our face. When I interviewed they told me I was not required to recruit but now I’m required to upload 50 “My Relationships” every certain amount of months where other recruiters can technically go after my contacts and recruit them and also am expected to invite potential networking to events and through the beaker model. Is this required? I feel forced and I’ve only been here for less than a month and I’m not loving this approach.

Received a senior associate offer for 80k base salary, but guaranty bonus of 24k for first two years. I have 2 years big4 audit experience. Worried that there’s too much weight in bonus versus the base (as that base of 80 is what my big4 salary is). Any advice on counter offer? It’s for Philadelphia.

I’ve heard The Siegfried Group pays a lot better than the Big 4 but the numbers don’t seem to be making sense to me. A recruiter mentioned to me 105-115k USD, but when I look at PwC US’s salary for a Tier 2 city, it’s 163k USD? Even Tier 3 is higher than the quote. I am from Canada so still trying to understand the US job market. 4 YOE, currently Manager in Canada in PwC Deals
