Any advice on moving from L4 to L5 in Amazon?
Meta technical solutions consultant interview prep - can someone let me know if they have gone through the technical rounds for Technical Solutions Consultant role? Can you share what to prepare for since it’s not a data science type of role so most likely not hard level MySQL questions. Any specific types of queries that I should learn? Thanks!

Amazon has the toughest interview process of FAANG. It’s very impersonal and they drill you on behavioral questions so much that Google and FB interviews especially feel nice in comparison. For “most difficult to get into”, look for official data if anyone publishes, not for the anecdotes you’ll see here.
My recruiter told me “I’m sending you a list of the Leadership Principles. You should be prepared to give a story in STAR format that demonstrates your competence in each of the LPs. You will be asked questions about some, or possibly all of the LPs, so have a STAR story for each one.”
That was a pretty clear homework assignment, and I followed it diligently.
Amazon is easy if you just want to pack or deliver packages.
Not Google since I got in 🥴
Lol the responses on Fish Bowl is clueless for tech.
Amazon has lowest bar of faang. In fact it’s called PIP factory because they practice hire to fire and fire employees before the backloaded vest kicks in year 3.
Google, Netflix, and FB has the highest bar of well known tech companies. Not all roles are the same. Getting into PM/SWE in tech is much harder than other non tech roles like ops, marketing, strategy, finance, etc.
Of the unicorns or mid size public companies - Stripe, Instacart, Databricks, Snap, Roblox, Airbnb. These all have higher bar than Amazon.
Palantir does not have a high interview bar anymore
Also fwiw - when I say salty Amazon employee, it’s not you Amazon 4. I think it was Amazon 2 who reported it. But anyway that’s beside the point.
Not a tech company, but I’d argue technical roles at HFT funds are the most difficult to get into.
Think like citadel or Jane street
This is accurate.
the bar at big tech frankly isn’t that high, they hire too many people every year
I’d guess google or Netflix
Google and Amazon
Definitely not Amazon…
I dont think it’s universally one, but Palantir, Google and HubSpot definitely
Hubspot? Surprising
The finance companies where you write trading software.
I have friends at various bigger ones in NYC, they like MIT grads, and friends at a smaller one here in Berkeley.
Amazon!!! Maybe Netflix.
I did a microsoft interview this week and damn that was tough
I’m sure it was tough.
When I first interviewed at Microsoft 5 years ago, I also thought it was hard. It’s just that there are harder interviews and you learn more and eventually some interviews just feel easy.
Wish you good luck with the results :)
Snap, Google, Netflix
1. Intel and Adobe
2. Nintendo and Activision
3. LinkedIn
4. Microsoft And Google
5. Thoughtworks and Palantir
Google
Google or Palantir
Google
An ethical one? 🤔
