I just don't add coworkers, period. If anyone asks I say "I keep work and personal separate" and leave it at that. Nobody's ever pushed back. It's a completely normal boundary.
Pro
I think that's a good way to put it.
Eh I’m picky on who I add. I just say I don’t use socials if anyone asks works for me.
Pro
That's pretty accurate for me as I really don't use them that often. Still, I don't want to add coworkers on there 😂
I do not friend anyone from work. They don't need to know what I'm up to lol
Pro
Haha exactly, none of their business!
Facebook is more for personal circles unless you've got a business page to separate your work space. LinkedIn is more of a platform for connecting with work colleagues. If you have an account on that platform, and they do, why not reach out and connect there.
Pro
Great idea. Just say something like "I prefer to keep work relationships on LinkedIn"

Not weird at all. Just decline the request. I only accept after people leave company.
Pro
I like that. Kind of like a stay in touch sort of thing.

Not weird at all. I’ve always preferred keeping work and personal life separate too. I’ve never really accepted coworkers on social media, but I also feel awkward straight-up declining them… so I usually just don’t approve the request 😅. Totally reasonable to want some boundaries there.
Pro
Yeah I always just let it sit there until they say something but they never do so it works out 😂
I'm the same way. I ignore friend requests and usually that is enough for people to take the hint and not bring it up. The very rare occasion where somebody has mentioned they sent me a request and were wondering if I saw it, I simply let them know that I don't add coworkers on social media. Sometimes it can be a bit awkward, but I would still rather then have to worry about what I'm posting.
Pro
Exactly. I haven't posted anything on Facebook in years but if I wanted to I wouldn't want to worry.
I don’t let co workers follow me. If you allow even just one, it can be awkward to deny another. If you just say that you keep work and life separate, then it makes it easier to say no. In my experience at least.
