What is the state of affairs in PI defense work? Does the quality of your work matter anymore, or are attorneys just being encouraged to submit meaningless bills which do not improve the state of the files given to the firms by the insurance companies? Is this a race to the bottom to undercut competition by hourly rate? Do the insurance companies realize that the attorneys charged with doing the actual work are overwhelmed by sheer volume and therefore cannot provide quality representation?

Has anyone taken on side gigs here? In transactional real estate and could really use the extra money. I’m in-house and drowning in bills. Where did you post and what kind of insurance did you get?

So I've been at my job for 5+ years as a data analyst/back office support team. I made my way up into making a little over $40k. I've been WFH the past 2 yrs and overtime more than half my team has now been pulled out to work for a diff department which resulted in me taking 90% of our daily tasks to handle. I work in insurance. I was working for an Allstate agent and was fired the day after my grandmothers funeral for being “unenthusiastic in our morning meeting”. Received a job offer. Was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on a concern I had about it. It's an entry level position, and I don't have much experience. The billables are 2040 a year. For billable hours in civil litigation and insurance defense, is 2040 hours for a 1st year associate on the high end in this field for a small or midsize firm? It seems like most attorneys I know have minimum requirements of around 1800. The compensation is around 80k a year.

What origination % are insurance defense firms giving to the attorney that brings in the file/client?
