What I’ve learned so far:
✔️ Discipline translates across all areas of life.
✔️ Growth happens outside of your comfort zone.
✔️ The right connections make all the difference.

If you’re in cybersecurity, I’d love to hear your advice on breaking in. If you’re on your own career journey, let’s connect and grow together!

Discipline definitely makes a huge impact across the board. As for cybersecurity, building a strong network and gaining hands-on experience with tools can really help. If you’re open to it, certifications like CompTIA Security+ can give you a good edge.

like

I like your post. Hope the certifications chart helps. It’s a good overall view. For cyber security - focusing on best practices and becoming a master at them would ease the path.

Just being genuinely interested to learn, being curious and proactive as well goes a long way (in cybersecurity). Don’t let the impostor syndrome get to you and look to play around with the various technologies you come across. Thus, having a knack to pickup a variety of tools and languages to have a general idea and then focusing on a select few to master can go a long way.

Best of luck!

I’ve been asked by a client to coach their team on how to structure and write scripts for their corporate event content (e.g. panel discussions). I’ve happily had a crack at helping them but it’s a bit out of my wheelhouse - is this ask something that would ordinarily be given to an agency copywriter? Or would it usually be something a content or speech writer would do?
Either way, I’m happy to add the additional skill to my CV 😅

So, I had put money into savings (~$40k) a few weeks back. I know timing the market isn’t good and stuff, but would it make sense to put some of that into an ETF now? The $40k isn’t part of my emergency fund or anything. I just didn’t know where to park the money.

Not sure if this is the right bowl but hoping to get some insight. I have a lot of student debt, and am considering refinancing with First Republic bank to get a (marginally) lower interest rate. However, their version of refinancing student loans has changed in the last couple years so now they offer you a personal line of credit. Is it a bad idea to refinance with a line of credit vs a regular student loan refinancing?

Thank you in advance!

How much of a pay cut are you willing to take to (hopefully) re-find purpose in your job?

My Context: work in tech, company has HQ in the Bay but I live in Canada. Single, no kids, 1 mortgage, no debts.

TC: ~200k USD (60% base / 40% equity). I put very low effort, completely disengaged and unmotivated, with anxiety building up. Don’t like the company, but very few companies can match where I live

I’m being offered ~110k to work more, better title, fun project and company

Resigned from my job for blatant racism last week. Been a contingent worker for 6 months. The manager that recruited me unfortunately left after a couple weeks and went to another company. She however recommended me for the permanent opportunity to higher management. The acting manager came in, permanent role was posted, I applied, interviewed……manager told me they chose someone else external for the role. I could sense the manager had no intentions to hire me permanently
