I had to obliserve or reenlist to finish my sea time after LIMDU. Reenlistment got me a bonus and obliserve didn't. It's almost been a year since I reenlisted and I don't regret it. I got type 2 sea duty in San Diego and it's great.
I think regret is a big word to use. But I definitely had times where I wondered wtf I was thinking. However, that being said… the experience and additional duties I got because of the reinlistment are unmatched in the civilian sector and because of that. I was able to find an amazing job with great benefits and a salary that surprised even me. So no. No regret.
Lol
I wanted to finish school. I was having tuition assistance pay so when I decided to get out I still had my GI Bill. So 8 years turned to 12 . Then I said I’m half way to retirement. So 12 years turned to 24.
I retired in 2016 with a masters. The post 911 sent me to school 4 more years with full BAQ and now I got my PHD. The USAF was the best way for me to go get my paper.
I have to reenlist to retire four days later.
Congratulations good luck
It wasn’t perfect but I would do it all over again. If I could change one thing I would have joined right out of high school
When I first enlisted, I was excited about the opportunity to serve and explore the world. As time went on, I found a deep sense of purpose in my career and decided to re-enlist. I have never regretted my decision and have enjoyed the many challenges and rewards that have come with each tour of duty.
I came into the military with the goal of earning a degree, needed that to be all I can be. 7/8 years later I found that I had failed at obtaining any degrees. So when it was time to go INDEF I said I would leave with as high of a degree as possible. That day forward I put my noise in the books and ended up with a masters. I also dedicated myself to the best outcome of a military career as possible. Focus on Your Goals and the answer will be clear.
