It depends on the level of spend. For very small brands- yes, it can be as high as that since there is a set amount of work required regardless of media spend. When that same fee is amortized over larger media spend the percent drops drastically.
This.
Up the budget, you’ll decrease the fee 😉
We’re retainer only. No media mark up.
I’d run. We do linear from 10-15%. Max is 20% for all things digital
It also depends on the vertical. Consumer CPG media percentages for example are significantly lower than pharma since media budgets are significantly higher.
I’ve seen 8% before
WOW….It varies by client for us but we also have retainers. But our highest commission on ad spend is 15%.
You guys still work on commission?
I can see why it could potentially be that high. The amount of work on a $10k a month account and a $50k month account could be very similar
That's freakishly high. I'm used to seeing 7-15%
Are you in consumer? If so, that’s why.😁
For perspective, if you’re working on a launch brand in pharma with a $3M budget, 7% is only 210k/year in fee or $17,500/month in fee to cover strategy, planning, investment, data and analytics, Ad Ops, Research, social team, programmatic team, search team, etc…you get the gist…it just wouldn’t allow for funding of a team. Or it would allow for each person to spend a hot second on the business and the client wouldn’t be happy.
….for a large consumer brand, no doubt. Or a small brand at an agency that isn’t full service.
Yeah like 7% here but can I get a job at your agency? I feel like Jordan Belfort finding the penny stocks place on long island right now.
