Agree with being patient.. keeping my opinions to myself with subordinates
Patience and ability to correctly judging to prioritize work are probably the most important things I've learned over the past 9+ years working in both South Asian (got 3 promotions to AVP) and North American Financial markets.
Patience has definitely been a big one for me, I used to have temper problems and get quite flustered when things didn't go the expected way but I've gotten a lot better about keeping my cool and adjusting to situations as they developed. Communication is a big one too, being able to articulate my thought more effective and advocating for myself have been quite impactful, too.
Patience, definitely. And part of that is having a willingness to listen carefully, which I admit I was not great at when I started out. I mean, I thought I was listening, but I really wasn't. Listening with some empathy, maybe that's a better way of putting it. Trying to understand the other person's point of view.
