Just heard that we will be switching from remote learning to "blended learning" as opposed to "hybrid learning". What's the difference?
New BlockFI CC looks lit. Thoughts?
Do you have someone in your office/group that you just loathe? They’ve only been on good projects with strong project teams since they’ve started. I’ve gone to them for help in the past via a partners suggestion but came to find out they’ve had their hand held the whole time. How do you get past feeling jealous and annoyed because you work your ass off and are supposedly a top performer but still get put on shit projects with no help? Is it really just time to walk? Been here for 4 years.
How do you make friends while being the new person in town? Is it possible to make friends without having to do drugs? Can we be sober and still be friends ?
I received an offer from a quant fund. My offer letter doesn’t explicitly state my role/position, it is nyc based, and that it’s full time. It also doesn’t provide benefits breakdown, just a blanket statement that I’m eligible. I’ve spoken to the recruiter about these items, but general response is that this is standard for the company. To me this is all very strange and I feel it should be defined more. Does this sound normal to others? Can’t tell if i should push on this more or leave it.
I am seriously starting to lose my shit with this WFH. I did it for a long time and was ok when I was in an urban area. I could people watch and get my fill. I moved to a rural area and (cont)
Startup idea I'd like some opinions on: a website that provides users with startup ideas. Our competitive advantage will be our people - plan on poaching entrepreneurs with only the most successful track records to be analysts, including Elon Musk, Travis Kalanick, Kenneth Lay, and Elizabeth Holmes. Will save on hosting costs by using Geocities.
Thoughts on viability?

Recent law school grad here. I'm interested in breaking into data privacy. I haven't had any internship experience in the area, but I've taken related coursework during law school. The positions I've been seeing require 5+ YOE. Any tips on how I can break in? Thanks in advance.
Firms hiring in Texas, Iowa or remote? Junior associate with CIPP (US +E), CIPM, and a post-grad fellowship in cybersecurity.
Anyone take the CIPM recently? How was it?
Does anyone here have experience as a combined Privacy Officer and Privacy Counsel role or working with a combined role? We’re deliberating combining those roles at my company, chiefly to save headcount and budget. I have some concerns about someone serving both roles at once (e.g. maintaining privilege), but that could just be me.
How do you all do data mapping? Any good resources or software/useful visualization tools you recommend?

I currently work in big 4 cybersecurity consulting making 120k 3 years out of undergrad. Would it be worth it for me to pursue law school?
Apparently IAPP had a webinar this week on hiring in the privacy field. My mentee and a few law students I know all watched and it sounds like a lot of the advice was pretty bad. I wish IAPP would tailor things for attorneys versus compliance, consulting, engineers, etc. I feel like they are doing such a disservice to everyone by trying to cater to all audiences at once.
Why aren’t we seeing more angst about cross-border data transfers post-Schrems II, and after the new EDPB recommendations for supplemental measures. Any theories?
