Do law firms ever cover the cost of the CIPP/US certificate?

Thoughts on Wealth Management as an industry? Offered a role to work under a senior FA and eventually take over the book (~$800M AUM and growing). It sounds great, but I am worried about the disruption this industry is facing with Robo advisors and other low cost, DIY options. I’d want to make sure the clients stay through the transition, and I don’t want to join a dying industry. Thoughts and advice?

I have a experience of 1.5 years as site engineer. I would like to go into designing and learn softwares according to it. I would like someone to tell me what is the experience needed, softwares to be learnt and where shall i learn them to be placed in US or UK companies?

Question from a newbie consultant - What are some good online courses/ books to improve consulting skills?

What can I do outside the office to boost my resume and be a substantially more attractive candidate for top consulting firms in ~12 months time. Working in disputes and valuation role but want to go into management consulting next year (post MBA role). I feel like my job isn’t enough because skills aren’t considered as transferable outside this field.

Trying to chart my next move and not sure what direction to go. All I know is I’m tired of being always “on” in a client-facing environment.

Any podcasts, books, etc I can read for insight into more internal roles like biz ops, corporate dev/strategy, other??

4 YOE total all in consulting. Currently a SC. Clients/work have been commercial healthcare implementation & public health strategy, risk, process imp etc.

I’m a new patent prosecution associate and unfortunately only just now realized that maybe prosecuting patents isn’t something I want to do long term. I loved copyright (and trademark) in law school, but I have loans to pay off. Should I stick it out in my current role to pay them off before I jump ship to a new practice area or will I be pigeonholed forever to patents if I stay here for 2-3 years?

Considering a move into Corp Dev & Strategy at the Sr. Analyst level, with a pay cut to current comp. Is it better to target Manager level roles, or leave now?

I'll switch to a startup as the only data engineer and will closely work with all the Head ofs + the CTO.

So far, I understand that there are client-serving firms like FTI and then the B4 will have forensics arms as well. What are some other forensic accounting roles? Pros and cons? Better than audit? I've got 4 years at a staffing agency after getting Masters in HRM and making a complete career change in 2018. Doing full cycle recruiting and account management. I feel I'm doing very well (in the role and with comp $57 base + commission = ~$91k last year) BUT I feel stuck!! I'm feeling undervalued and unchallenged. Hi Fishies, i have experience working on Oracle Peoplesoft as well as Oracle Cloud.
Now i have been interviewed and selected for Ameriprise where I would learn on the job and work on workday finance.
No WD certification.
Will it be a good choice in the long run?
Also, how hard is it to learn workday without proper formal training/certification ?

I finished a third round interview, and HR contacted me that afternoon saying I had positive feedback across the board and they would contact me the next day regarding next steps. It’s been two days and they finally get back to me saying they haven’t been able to sync with the hiring manager but will keep me posted. Honestly I wish they would talk with the hiring manager and then let me know the decision instead of checking in. It’s messing with my emotions.

Having major imposter syndrome still. I feel like the minute I finally have a grasp, something changes. The law and nuances just seem overwhelming. Maybe it’s just a lack of guidance/uniformity in the US. I’m not sure if I feel this way because it is simply the nature of the work or because I’m just not capable.

Are Big 4s still hiring entry level privacy consultants or is there a freeze on hiring? Someone in the consulting bowl mentioned that EY has a hiring freeze, but was wondering if anyone here knows.

Low billable, low pressure work in privacy law? Slowly realizing that as my boys get older, the money isn’t worth what I’m missing out on. Currently a tech litigation associate with lots of hearing, depo and trial experience (I’ve appeared on my own at hearings/depos) at a well respected firm. I have limited privacy experience despite being hired for that reason… Have my CIPM and CIPP/US /E and /C. Remote preferred; hubs is pilot with cool intl transfer opportunities. Money isn’t issue.

Hi all! I’m inclined on taking up the CIPM training and certification exam. I’m already a certified Data Protection Officer in the Philippines. I intend on skipping CIPP as it applies to the US and EU.

How difficult was the exam? Can you share your experience studying for the CIPM exam? Is it advisable to skip CIPP?
