Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

My best friend and I have both been freelancers for a long time so we’re launching a podcast to talk about this type of thing and help new freelancers overcome the hurdles. I think the best piece of rice I have to start doing freelancing is to start doing it while you still have a job so you can learn it slowly and you can feel confident that you can pay bills.
Our podcast and tips are on tiktok and others @thefreelancecircus. 👍🏻 GOOD LUCK!!!
We would absolutely love to have you on! I’ll shoot you a message and we can start discussing details. 👍🏻
I had a comfortable, but not creatively fulfilling FT job for years which hit a dead end.
Fear of instability and dry periods kept me from jumping. I probably should’ve a year earlier.
It’s only been a few months, but so far so good. Lower stress, decent work, and have been booked.
I got laid off at the height of the pandemic and had no choice. If I had to choose to do it, I probably never would have. But at this point, nearly two years later, I can’t imagine ever wanting a full time job again. Everything about this is better than what I was doing before.
