Four are similar, and then there’s Lewis Brisbois.
My understanding is that Ogletree has been successful at pivoting away from insurance work, while JL has doubled down on it
Why would you go boutique? No potential to cross sell. Boutiques are okay for labor, but very much lacking in litigation. Boutiques push attorneys to get into niche employment specialties, which help the firms but are very bad for anyone looking to have any sort of book of business. They are largely the professors of private practice- knowledgeable in very specific areas, but mostly unable to provide efficient, practical, and useful advice to clients. While they don’t charge BL rates, clients are not getting high level service outside of labor, and clients are starting to realize this.

So far, so good and those are great points that you made. 👍🏼 You seem very knowledgeable!
In order from best to worse: Ogletree, Fisher Philips, JL, littler, Lewis Brisbois
For Texas, I’d move Littler up. JL is the clear #4 in my opinion, and LB is #5 without doubt.
From experience, I can say that Ogletrwe is an excellent firm. I’m at a mid level employment firm who works with them often. I really enjoy their involvement in our cases (joint defense counsel). Their L&E department that I’ve had experience with is highly professional with some rockstar attorneys. Good firm.
