Such an easy thing to do that makes a huge difference
Honestly why doesn’t everyone do this - I always feel like life is much easier if you can get on with your counterparts. Not everything has to be a one up competition.

Sounds like other side is the law firm to lateral to.
Sounds like one more target to poach, then.
So rare and so beautiful.

Love that! I try to do that too, warms my heart😃
My mids and seniors do this to the other side and I’ve begun to do the same even as a stub year. It is the best and I think one of the better pieces of evidence that my firm is ~collegial~.
A1, unless the stub year's correction is wrong, you shouldn't have a negative reaction to it.

THIS!!!!!! I always do this for others as an email with the subject line “Aside/[prior description of matter]” and note “BTW, I caught X that should be Y.” The outpouring of thank you that comes after is really astounding. I’ve been on the other side of this and am always grateful when someone does the same.
To the assholes that don’t do this and reply all to make someone look like an idiot,
I’m likely judging you more than the original sender bc it’s a sign of bad character and a fail at professional courtesy. So, no, I will not be agreeing to any brief adjourn request by you in the future.

I have always done this. Same thing internally, and I appreciate from others, too. Nothing worse than the insecure associate copying 30 people asking about X, especially where X isn’t a big deal and the associate probably already knows the answer.
Exactly the right thing to do. I recently had a partner on the other side of a deal email my associate, with everyone on the chain cc'd, to tell her that she forgot to attach exhibits to an agreement. The agreement was in word, the exhibits were in PDF and in fact were to be provided by said partner's client. Such an a$$.
People blissed out on encountering basic human decency in this profession
Send him/her a nice bottle of booze with a short thank you. That way, neither of you will ever forget the solid. Trust me - I know
