You can make way more money as a software engineer at pretty much any tech company. I know Apex/Lightning is mostly Java/JS so you’d probably need some other languages on your resume as well but it’d be a good route to consider.
A consulting tech lead role isn’t super hard to get if you’re great at what you do. OP I would try going for an engineering role but a 300-400k SWE role at FAANG is a lot harder to get than a SFDC development role.
Leaving consulting should be super easy, companies will be lining up to interview you. The harder transition would be away from Salesforce. One option to consider would be working as a Salesforce developer at a company and transitioning away from Salesforce work within the same company. I’ve personally had conversations with people who have done that at Zillow, Compass, and Wayfair.
SWE, mostly backend
