A lot of CDs don’t even check LinkedIn, or they get a ton of spam invites and messages from vendors. Your message could get lost in the shuffle.
I’d email if you can find it. I’d rather talk to someone who went through the effort to search for it than being spammed on LinkedIn.

Back when I was a Jr, I kept track of how often people responded and which platform I reached out on. Email beat LinkedIn by a landslide.
How long ago was that though? That could definitely impact relevance

LinkedIn. That’s what it’s for. Email feels too intrusive.
Why would you pick one or other? Do both and then hit them up on social in a non creepy way. You have the most amount of ways to get in touch with a CD, even here.
Try LinkedIn first. Keep it casual. Don’t be pushy or desperate. “Just checking in. If you ever need a [your role], I’d love to chat.”
And include your email and mobile (talk/text).
Then follow up with an email 24 hours later.
