What's one thing you learned at your job that made a big impact on your career?

Hello. I just completed My Masters in Engineering (Mining Engineering) from Laurentian University. I have been looking for a job in mining or civil engineering from past 2-3 months, havent even got a reply yet, reason being i dont have canadian experience. Even though i do have 3.5 years experience from my home country, without canadian experience i get rejected at even entry level jobs. Does anyone know what to do ? please help me

So I left my medical interpreter job back in February due to differences with management and I’m working to make the jump to another field such as Higher Ed and/or Tech. I’m the only mechanical engineer at my company dealing with a half dozen cranky production managers who think that I can “work my magic” on a machine. People who work in any engineering capacity are usually very hardworking but it's not just because we have to be, it's also that we find this stuff really fascinating, kind of like a book you can't put down

Is there anything you wish you knew about civil engineering before deciding on your degree?

I've noticed that the engineers keep their mouths shut whenever they're asked for feedback, but when they're alone, they talk about how much they wish they could change management.

Why is that?

People act all embarrassed when they tell me they don't know what "engineering" means and I just tell them it's based off the word "engine," and we study how systems (like engines) work. That usually explains it

I currently working as project coordinator (on-site) for 3 months 10hrs everyday with package $75k, I want to move to remote or hybrid work but I only have 8 months of experience from my previous employer and I have completed my master's in construction management in 2021.
