What’s the best free platform for virtual parties? Zoom? Google hangouts?

What’s you communication platform at work?? (Teams, slack, email etc)

I realise this is so insignificant compared to what’s actually happening in the world but catching myself reflected on video during Zoom calls from time to time is really messing with my self esteem 😞

Am I the only one looking forward to returning to the office on at least a part-time basis? By the amount of posts I see about people applying for remote roles or wanting to quit if they have to return to the office it seems like the minority view. I’m tired of talking to a screen all day. Bring on the energy of in-person brainstorms, internal reviews, and presentations to clients who are in the room.

How do you subtly let a coworker sitting near you that they are overly loud? He conducts all his zoom meetings at his desk and I have to listen to his conversations.

Anybody have an epic zoom mishap story?

Soooooo tired of Zoom.

I'm 8 years into my career in the same industry. Years ago I was the person who knew ever answer and was considered very sharp/the company "swiss army knife". Ever since 2020, I feel like I lost part of my brain. I am not longer sharp, I have a hard time grasping new info and I have panic attacks before every zoom call. Is anyone else dealing with this? I don't know if it's because I work from home now or what but i'm paranoid that I will never climb out of this fog. :( Suggestions welcome!

How would one politely ask for a deadline (without coming off as being slack) when receiving an email assigning work without a deadline?

Intern : "hey, this username/password combo didn't work for me. Config issue?" Engineer to intern : "Please rotate this password. You should not share passwords on slack". Intern: "how do I rotate a password?" What happened to common sense 😭? Is this another caution: hot coffee cup scenario?

First day in-house, virtual. What to wear for the zoom calls? Female. Blazers/jackets to be expected or a nice blouse good enough?

How does everyone feel about unnecessary Zoom calls? Team arranges calls to touch base multiple times a week to talk about non-work related things.

I love the company I work at but they are forcing everyone to return to office after two years working fully remote and the most successful eight quarters the company has had in years. People are leaving left and right forcing me and other team members to pick up the slack. For many reasons I do not want to return to office and they are standing firm on their policy. It has forced me to consider other opportunities. Anyone have any recommendations on remote opportunities?

Has anyone dealt with a manager who seems threatened by you? I have this manager who doesn’t want me reaching out to any higher ups. When I was new and needed help, a coworker gave me several contacts and after I reached out via Slack to them, all hell broke loose because one was a VP. She all but accused me of going over her head. Very controlling!

Any recommendations on Baja Hoodies / drug rugs? Not for client site but for chillin with the cam off during zoom calls.

How should I tell my team I am pregnant? Context: I found out at the very start of the case and have kept it under wraps despite having to mute some conference calls to vom, etc. We have two weeks left and I plan to be transparent with staffing and future cases going forward, as I’m past 12 weeks, so it’s likely they would find out. I like my team but I don’t have a super close personal relationship with them & this is my first case with this group. Email? Slack message? Zoom call?
