It’s normal to ask for a day or two to mull things over. But yeah, it’s hard to say “give me a week to think”.
Worst/best case scenario, you accept the offer and then the agency you love makes an offer. You’d quit and it’d be awkward, but 5 years from now all you’ll remember is getting a job somewhere you loved.
Yea, I'd feel shitty about doing that but maybe it's the best way to protect myself from falling into a situation where I wind up jobless.
Not sure how other people do it but I was in the same situation and I told the agency I was interviewing at that I had another offer with a deadline. They expedited the process and I ended up with an offer from them :) Depends on how much time you have to think about your first offer, though. I had a week to get back to the original agency which gave me more leeway with the second agency.
Yea, a 1 week cushion would be huge. And I've definitely mentioned my timeline and situation. The ball is in their court.
For more context, I have an offer from one agency that I like but don't love. I'm interviewing at another agency that I would prefer much more to the one I'm sitting on an offer from. How do I sit on this offer while I interview? How long can I do it for?
Following. Im in exactly the same boat (Hopefully not for the same position tho)
Maybe we just trade offers. Lol jk
Always be transparent and honest. Don’t play games unless you’re starting a bidding war. Tell them you are in the middle of a interview and need as much time they are willing to give.
Good point to be clear you should never be transparent unless you have a offer with a time stamp on it. If they give you 24 hours to respond, then tell them you need more time, because you’re in the middle of another conversation.
