Depends on your career profile.
If you’re already in a post MBA role at one of the post MBA employers, then you may go for it if:
> Getting a return offer
> Want to switch industry (e.g. move to tech from Consulting)
> Want to switch geography and transfer not working out organically
In other cases (i.e. trajectory behind or at par with post MBA roles), if you feel the program will benefit your career, then you can go for it. I think only HBS has a younger crowd due to higher # template profiles (4 yr UG + 2-3 yr MBB / IB + 1-2 yrs NGO / PE / Founder).
Agewise you’re completely fine.
I was in the same boat! And, I’m the median age in my class right now. It’s weird hearing people who are 25 sometimes (not that they act mature, sometimes it comes up and I’m like dang…..you’re young!!!) but there are folks 30+ that assimilate just fine. All depends on your path of life and attitude towards what you’re coming into - embrace it! It’s gonna be a great two years.
I’m an MBA program now. You find people on all ends of the spectrum. I know people that are 23 and some that are in mid 30s. I don’t see the older candidates any differently. They’ll just crack an occasional joke about being old and balding but everyone comes for the same goals - to learn, have a good time, and get paid.
Not too old, but the ROI diminishes the further you are in your career
Only you know that. If you are already an EM at McKinsey for example, your post MBA role will likely be more junior than your current role
