Xwf just distinguishes you’re a contractor and the FTE is the full time. Good luck and welcome aboard!! Hope you love it here!!
there is no universal answer. Some will see it as no difference, others will see it as a separate company b/c technically the employer is a 3rd party.
depends on the role you’d be going for and interview details. Eg If you’re a recruiter for IC roles then it makes 0 difference contractor vs full time on the job.
It becomes more apparent in some moments vs others, ex. xWF can't attend most internal events, the pay is obviously different, the resources you access internally can differ and the red tape can be annoying etc. Those were the only moments I really felt it.
In terms of the market, technically your LinkedIn /resume etc should say "Google via xWF company" but in my experience (I was xWF) that was enough to qualify things for interviews/experience and it was fine.
So, this is important. As part of the extended workforce, you are not an FTE and you can't act as an FTE. There is a lot of compliance nuisance to this with plenty of legislation covering what can and cannot be.
Generally speaking, you (or the company you are employed with) are providing a service to Google, rather that work for Google.
Depending on what type of xWF you are (T,V or C) things may be slightly different but in all cases you should not portray yourself as a Googler (as someone said, you are "working at Google, via xyz company").
In recent times they even changed how you appear in Moma to be extra sure people understand you are part of the xWF rather than an FTE.
I am not aware of any actions taken against people who say otherwise on their social profile but technically you are lying if you say you are a Googler.
