When it was time to move on, even if I wasn’t ready to do so. The reality of what it takes to be successful goes beyond my personal values. I had to learn to be objective and be ready to face some uncomfortable truths.

Basically doing everything right, and your ass still can get kicked out. There is no security. You might as well just be a bad employee then.

Spend too much time focusing on the title, money and career and you might miss out on everything else life has to offer. Some may “have it all” but it’s not an easy task to achieve so be intentional about what you want and what you’re actually chasing.

Good people get fired. Perception is reality. Greed controls the world. Marry for money not love because love goes away but money covers up a lot of crap.

Agree with all except last sentence. I’d change to just “don’t get married”

Chicago 🐠: a friend is moving from CA to IL and is planning to rent a place somewhere in north burbs(Northbrook/Deerfield/Vernon Hills). He’s looking for 3+bd/2+ba townhomes/SFHs which will allow small dogs. Any advice on finding a broker? It seems Zillow or other portals are not very helpful at this moment. Any pointers are highly appreciated. TIA.

I’ve interviewed for several positions AVP and VP roles since October of ‘21 internally with Citi. Didn’t take any of them because it would have been only $8k - $11k salary bumps. For double or even triple the work. So I’m leaving to go from $70k to $235k in September at a competing firm for a VP level role. The moral of the story: hop if you need to. No reason to stick around for low pay and not being compensated fairly by the company that expects “loyalty” from you.

What are the designation levels in the major financial institutions? It's confusing because some consider VP and SVP more senior than a Director, and some have SVP one level lower than a Director like in Citi. it's Associate, Associate Director, Director, Executive Director, Managing Director (3 levels).
