Do bankers usually send over LBO models to the data room if they’re brokering PE deals? Or is it rarely the case where they’re modeling out LBO’s?

Do Big4 EAs in Canada actually get salary increases?! 1yr already and no bump! Not eligible for bonus cuz am overtime eligible. Those of you who are high performing EAs for Big4 Canada, do you even get salary increases?Or EA in big4 salary is stunted for years?!

Need some feedback! So I was forced to move jobs about 6 months ago due to reorg and the new leader opting to bring their existing EA with them, without even meeting me. If stayed at the company but accepted an offer for a job outside of the department I was in. I’ve now been asked by a manager from my old department to apply for a job they’re opening that would be a 2 step promotion. She thought she got my managers permission to approach me (see comments)

Received an offer for an internal promotion and the verbal offer differed from the written offer. Specifically, the bonus verbalized was 2% higher than the offer letter. HR basically just said ‘sorry, our mistake the letter is right’. What would you do?

Been seeing a ton of V10 (NY white shoe) —> Cooley/Fenwick/Gunderson laterals recently in my network (including Wachtell). What gives? Why those specific firms over, say, WSGR and Goodwin?

After you are stealth laid off, other than job search, what do you do? I assume they won’t give you work and even if they do, you can politely decline? How do you feel about you are not progressing anymore and seeing other people progressing in their career? I have no intention to make partner, but still feel a bit stuck not doing that much.

Working on some law firm applications tonight and it sucks that I know that I am so capable and have a strong work ethic but firms can’t see beyond grades or the fact that I didn’t go to a t14 law school or prestigious undergrad. I’ve worked twice as hard and feel like I’ve barely even gotten half as much. It’s discouraging sometimes especially because I worked so hard with pretty much no guidance (first gen, poc, low-income) to get into college and do well and then get into a t30 law school

Sanity check here - I lateraled to a big firm last summer, and since then I’ve noticed a few red flags. We have zero project management in a partner-heavy group and no admin support, and every day is a constant scramble. The top partners do not treat associates or staff well and I had a brutal “last straw” situation last week. I’m burnt out (pacing at 2200) and anxious all the time, I hit a wall mentally/physically/emotionally. Is it worth it to look elsewhere or is this just big firm life? 🥴

Beginning to consider going in house (4th, corp) - I really haven’t thought about what I want, partly because I’m not sure what’s out there/attainable. Is it a bad idea to start by applying to a couple positions that interest me and seeing where that gets me? I’ll of course prep for the interviews but am afraid to burn potential bridges if I ultimately decline because I’m still figuring things out.

To those at V25 firms, how do you view your London office in terms of the quality of work we get and overall importance to the firm? Like is there a perception of us being a step down or ancillary to the big leagues of NYC or not? There’s generally a perception here that L&W and K&E are the only US firms where London can even begin to compete with stateside in terms of generating l work organically but would be interesting to know what you all think? Be brutally honest.

What responsibilities should a litigation associate have by their second year?

Just joined a firm where they had appeared to be expanding their corporate group and kept seniors fairly happy. I come on my first day and find out those seniors have left for v10 firms, leaving me much closer to the fire than I expected. I can’t seem to shake this really uneasy feeling that I’m about to be demolished.. Should I trek along as normal or keep my ear to the ground for another move...

Which Big Law firms in San Francisco/Bay Area have good L&E groups? Good as in legitimate group and not some group that claims to do the work but really just writes blog posts and answers some advice and counsel questions. Amongst those, any intel on culture, WLB, etc.?
