What’s up with the absolute ghosting when you reach out to recruiters/CDs etc? How much energy does it really take to respond with a simple “sorry, no roles”/“we’re not hiring”/“I’m really busy right now”?

I get that people are inundated right now, but it’s pretty demoralising to be unemployed and not get treated like you even warrant an email.

Yes, probably taking this too personally when it isn’t. But, y’know. Needed to vent.

Currently an associate at a mid-sized firm with “strong potential” to make partner at the end of this year. Things have been toxic for a while, but have cratered in 2021, with few signs there will be any positive changes on the horizon. What are the pros and cons of staying to make partner before trying to go in-house? I’d assumed it would be better to job search with that title on the resume, but am rethinking my assumptions the worse things get.
