My contract is coming to an end so I contacted my manager was offered an job at same 7b level at 17 lakhs . Should I take the offer , will I have growth in the Company? Blame the benefits. Say that the entire package isn’t what was expected and in line with what you currently have. Reply with at least $10k plus more asking if they’d consider your counteroffer.

BAH is right. Recruiters always have a "discretionary budget" for a job order they can use to go up a notch for the right candidate. If you ask and negotiate for a little more, just the way BAH explained, they will either come back with what they think you're worth or what they can afford to pay you. If they have other candidates who are as good or better and want you for a bargain, they will stick to their offer. A full $10k might be a little much but could be a starting point for negotiating, though.

You got a job in these times, in this economy? Take the offer and if you are good, ask for a raise later when you feel that you've contributed to success of a project and deserve it and the agency is doing good financially.

I read somewhere the first offer is not the actual offer that you should always negotiate. Like hiring managers have a budget where they can go. Ask them is that their best offer. Say that you have made some research and based on your experience on a similar position you expect this amount. I have always negotiated my salary and always getting more though not at what I ask for but we split the difference. This will be your base salary and also you need to be happy on the amount that they will give you so you will be happy on your new job. If they really like you they will work it out if not they can explain why. Like they have budget or something.
You mentioned you gave a number during early discussions. So I’m assuming that means since then you’ve received far more information about he role. It’s normal I think to say that given your now deeper understanding of the position, you think a more appropriate salary is X.
Not exactly sure why you think asking for $10k more is a big issue. Company never disclose the exact amount to me before formal offer, and I always counter. $10k is very reasonable. Do you mind share the total package with your YOE? TIA.
Yes always counter and negotiate, sometimes you have to be bold and confident and just ask. $10k is a drop in the bucket and they’ve already made it clear they’re interested in hiring you, so if that’s what it would take to get you on board I’m sure they’ll accept.
Typically agree with using the idea of the counter, but you do have to be willing to walk away. Other ideas, is a signing bonus an option? Or let them know you’d be leaving before your bonus at your current company and ask if they can help compensate. You can also come back and try being honest...you thought about the offer and really feel 10K more is commiserate with your exp/the landscape, cost of living, etc. Benefits is a risky way to go bc usually they’re fixed. Sometimes you can negotiate on stuff like vacation days, but that’s not gonna help the salary issue.
