I have recently joined EY SaT group as senior consultant recently in Netherlands. I’m tripple masters in MS economics, MBA and MS business analytics. Have 4 YOE in different industries but no M&A experience specifically. Any ideas what company should be offering me? I’ll be working as expert on commercial due diligence, FDD and valuation teams and doing automation alongside. is it wise to demand higher salary or promotion soon after I have proven that I can work and do it better than most?EY

With Accenture moving to % increases for promotes rather than band ranges, it makes SAL raises super important. However, they’ve also implemented this 50/50 split — it’s all an effort to keep salary increases suppressed.
If I were a current L9, I’d be looking for a competing offer in the hope that Accenture would do a talent retention salary match. That feels like the only way to meaningfully increase your SAL salary in anticipation of a capped 20% promo increase.
I know L7 at ~100k base (+car allowance) and L6 at 90k base(+car allowance). I dont know where we are heading with new bands

Probably MBA vs. normie
It's getting very stark the difference in bands in different areas. I know 5s on same salaries as 4s, 7s on the same as top performing 6s.. pick your area wisely as the bands might be a severe restraint

SM1 - totally with you.
The thing to consider is L5 gets double equity; so a high performing L5 with a low base might always get double equity (30k/year extra vesting over 3 years).
Whereas an L5 with a high base may get no equity/single equity award.
Obviously the latter is better but the firm retains some control on the former.
Did you move from L8 to L7? 51k feels like a L9 salary.
That basically confirms what I’m suspected since late 2024: move one level up and it’s capped at around 13% - move two levels up and it’s capped at 20%. It was 20% moving up one level in mid-2024. They’re definitely reducing the salary bands, or at least widening them by having a lower bottom ends.
It sucks that as a manager you’re only getting marginally more than a typical consultant. But you have a new job title now so I’d be looking for pastures new.

You only get paid market rate if you’re in the market. Go out in the market and see what you’re worth
Does the car allowance automatically get paid out monthly?
Yes
I got 13%
