7am - I am not a morning person.
What’s worse? Here you go… Unemployment as a result of being focused on silly questions like this instead of being committed to a cause with purpose, reason, and discipline. Do your job. Be f’ing amazing at it. Create an environment in which calls get scheduled around you bc you are THAT good at what you do.
This is wild, D2 is fully indoctrinated
10 PM. Because I’m tired then. And that’s past my bedtime. 7am also bad. Personal time. And mornings are sacred. I will confidently reject both.
Literally none of us are saving lives here; there's no reason to be on calls at asinine times in either direction of normal working hours.
At least 7am is in the same universe as "standard working hours" of 9am-5pm; 10pm is literally a night shift. That's a hard no for me.
D1 - it’s inconvenient for you. If the call was at 4 PM, that would be 2:30 AM for India (assuming CST).
Part of life is flexibility. Some days you take calls that are outside of your normal working hours and other times it’s your global partners who do that.
But both 7 AM and 10 PM are reasonable hours for occasional connects, and that’s the nature of working with a global team. Connecting through email can work, but you can’t tell me with a straight face that aligning on work is more effective through email rather than a direct conversation.
A 7:00am call preceded by a 10:00pm call the night before is worse.
Consulting clopen
I work with APAC a lot. 10 PM is not bad. Kids are asleep. I wouldn’t be doing much that’s very productive anyway.
7 is horrid. I hate mornings.
Completely agree, at least kids are asleep at 10 pm and I can focus. 7 am call is way too stressful with getting kids ready for school.
7 am. My home office is extremely chaotic until the kids leave at 8 😅 By 10 pm everyone is asleep and I can actually get something done.
10. I’m over it by then
7 am - I’m a night owl
Neither as I won't be going to either of them at those times!
Depending on how much money is involved, I received calls at 7am to close a deal, so is depending what are you expecting
10 pm! I did the 7 am call with no video required for almost 2 years. You get used to it
7am because I’m usually working at 10pm anyways
My entire project team has to do both. And some of the night calls go past 1030. Both are a nightmare and I can’t wait to get out
10pm without camera >7am without camera
With camera on, not sure, still prefer 10pm
Depends who’s calling

7am
I’m not a morning person by any means but 10pm is far worse. At least for a 7am it’s done and you can get on with your day, if anything it gives you a reason to get up early. For a 10pm that’s time you could be chilling, spending time with family or friends, watching TV, working out, etc.
Are we not supposed to have 6am and 11pm calls everyday? Definitely 6am is worse for me, but might not be as bad if I wasn’t also always up late
I hate the 10pm ones. I can do 7am and earlier. I can't do 10pm and often sleep through these if they're on the calendar.
