I like hearing from people in different roles at my company. It’s fascinating to hear what’s going on in different locations (shout out to those of you who endure insane parking issues that were never fixed before mandated RTO… yikes!). There’s also some comic relief and comfort in sharing grievances. Other times, it’s just humbling to hear what other associates go through. It can really shed light on some things. I think it’s adjusting my once-myopic view of my company. (Not that this app is completely free of echo chambers, but FWIW, it’s great to have some preconceived notions challenged.)

Hello everyone!

We (I and wife) are looking to buy a 2+ bed condo in Chicago area by this September.

We are doing research pretty much on our own for the houses. So, I am looking for any references for buyer's agents who could offer us good commission rebate and help us with just basic stuff like paperwork and reviewing disclosures etc.

Good morning / Hello! Just a reminder that you don't have to put up with anyone's bullshit today. 🤙 Stick up for yourself and your workload (professionally and with examples of needed.) Don’t just say “yes”, to extra work. Decline that meeting that someone sends today for 5pm. Calibrate people’s expectations. It’s okay to not turn your camera on. And be sure to take a minimum of 30min and get outside if you can. Handle your biz, and make it a great Friday. 💯 💻📲📊📧

Does anyone think it’s weird that my firm is bending over backwards to try to keep a first year staff from leaving the firm after she was rated a 2 this year. But now she’s trying to leave and they keep trying to push her to stay saying she can be a partner in 8-9 years and laying it all out in detail. The issue is they laid off other staff (all but her) so maybe that’s it? Find it very odd.

Home office preference question. I am getting ready to redo the layout of my home office. One option I'm considering would have my desk facing a wall. I am wondering if anyone with this current setup has any feedback about it. I would face the wall so that I would have a better background for video conferences (am on about half the day) and also my cord situation would be cleaner.

I’m totally empathetic to people that miss offices and traveling. I understand your reasons why, I truly do.

For me personally, after non-stop weekly travel for 4 straight years, not traveling has made me realize how much I enjoy being home. Spending time with family, sleeping in your own bed, consistent exercise schedule, etc.

I for one hope consulting becomes more of a hybrid travel model (i.e. travel 1-2x per month or as needed). Else it won’t be for me.

Anyways, just some thoughts.
