Who works in Tax and is working today? And why?
Can folks from PwC share how exactly your all remote model works? So, an employee opting for remote works with any team across time zones ? Or across states in same time zone? Also, how do you staff on / find a project? Are there people working totally with teams outside their office, as say nobody or few in their own group/ office opted for remote model? Would that be true?

You are getting paid. It’s called capitalism- and the reason you work in PA is either because you want to make partner one day, or get an easier job in industry. If you don’t like it, choose door number 2!
Why do you think the partner pyramid scheme exists?
EY2 Damn straight
I don’t think that you would be more motivated, you would just be more motivated to not finish your work in a timely manner so that you got paid overtime to do it, trust me that is how it works.
Pwc 3 is correct. When EY phased out overtime pay below manager level the overtime hours of seniors dropped significantly. That aside I don't feel that we get compensated for the expectation that we are available 24 hours 7 days a week.
They do in CA
Don’t they? Or is that just industry
Back of the envelope, assuming on average 60 hours per week (billable plus anything non-billable), a senior that currently makes 100K salary would probably get offered about 27.50 per hour if overtime was a thing.
Still sound awesome?
If we're going hourly, I wonder how those checks would look in the slow periods.
Yeah it exists, some firms pay overtime hours to CPAs. I am at one ! Not for big 4 though .
Do you think if we got paid overtime we’d get paid more? Pretty sure the partners are smart enough to calculate an hourly wage that would get us to the exact same total amount we make now
Continued..... we have made much of what we do into more customer service oriented and less about our expertise. You can't walk into McDonald's or home depot and offer less than the sales price but we reduce fees on tax work to win it and then deal with low margins
I have friends at firms who get paid hourly and overtime. Like what has been said here, it all evens out
^they are probably in industry or some mid tier no one cares about Or a flexible contractor hired only for busy season
B4 went off overtime in the early 80s. You guys need to remember your college economics. When there is a huge amount of people that want your job and our willing to work at the going rate, wages don’t go up . You are fairly compensated . Gain more experience, increase your expertise and your wages increase as your become a scarce resource. Become one of the roughly 15000 people who can perform at the B4 partner level and the comp is 7 figures
about 20 years ago
D1, comp is 7 figures?!? Maybe for advisory in NYC...
Large office in the south with 160 partners. 20 percent of the partners make over a million and the median is 800
