Tailoring helps for sure. Highlighting relevant experience and transferable skills can often bridge small gaps.
It's usually best to apply if you're close to meeting the requirements but may be missing only a few things. If you get down to 70% of the requirements that's probably not going to be successful. I mean, it's an approximation, and various factors could come into play. Still, as a general rule it's best not to spend time on things with little chance of success and essentially "spam apply" to random jobs.
Fair take. Quality over quantity matters, but if core skills match and the gap is small, it can still be worth a shot.
Depends on what that 70% covers. You’ll know which ones are going to be the mandatory requirements, and which ones you can kind of skim by. As close as possible is where you want to be, but I wouldn’t say to only apply to 100% matches either.
Exactly. If the core or must-have skills are covered, the rest is often flexible and trainable.
