I know it seems kind of arbitrary, but humor and friendliness. Since you'll be working with that person very closely, it's nice to have somebody in the position who you genuinely enjoy talking to.

We are hiring for a role in my team currently and both candidates have almost equal qualifications but one has better speaking skills
Ability to communicate definitely matters a lot. Something I like to consider is the person's ability to get along with people and work in a team. That can be a little tricky to assess, as you never really know for sure. Still, there are clues that indicate that the person is a good person to have around when it might matter.

Speaking/communications skills definitely make a difference. The other thing I look for is demonstrated expertise in something important to the role but with evidence of curiosity about adjacent skills that may not specifically be required for the role. That will tell me that the candidate is able to grow and adapt, either as a leader or simply as someone who can adapt to changing business requirements.
It depends on the level and what we’re looking for. At some levels we’re just looking for talking heads and at others we need people that are going to roll em’ up and GSD. The higher up I feel like we’re not looking for boat rockers, but lower down we’re looking for change agents.
At the higher levels I noticed my peers gravitate toward talking heads, but for my functional crew I need to know you’re hungry. Not desperate, but hungry.
