I personally, have implemented strategic optimization processes that have saved companies significant money throughout the fiscal year and can walk through the details on how I did this if anyone ever cared to ask. Sadly showcasing soft skills like common sense and pragmatism are not as compelling as the eye catching quantitative achievement stats which are expected features on competitive resumes in this market.

Impressive! Not everyone can claim this, so good for you!

Great question—I’ve always wondered the same. From what I’ve seen, recruiters and hiring managers love quantified impact, but only when it feels grounded. If the savings claim sounds inflated or lacks context, it can do more harm than good. But if you frame it as “Estimated X% cost savings by implementing Y” and explain how you got that number, it shows both business thinking and transparency. Basically, numbers help—if they’re earned, not exaggerated.
It is really difficult to also keep it concise though! These days we need to create resumes that are easy to skim through and AI friendly. Not easy at all!
