First of all, get it out of your head that you’re a dumb consultant, my friend. That’s first step, because your mindset will shape your actions and how you present yourself to others.
I went through this myself so I feel you, i think this might help: https://www.bakadesuyo.com/2020/01/overcome-impostor-syndrome/
Can you sell? Looks like you are a partner candidate ( I am serious). Folks like you identify great talent, keep them motivated ,build a team and sell, because of that they make partners. How about you focus on project management and Agile transformations.
Dude do you know how many people in industry could teach themselves how to do a regression in python/R? Much less know what a regression is/does? This is some serious imposter syndrome. Go be a business analyst in industry
You can change your title in your resume and such if you’re not having luck being recruited as a data scientist. Just don’t misrepresent your level or claim stuff you’re really not. Nobody will care if you call yourself something in analytics instead.
Also recruiters don’t know shit about stem skills. The hiring manager probably doesn’t either. They’re probably going down a skills checklist from a job description the hiring manager found online or worse their internal HR system based on the role they’ve opened. Find out what the job really requires and sell your ability to do it.
Title given by firm but only because I taught myself how to do regression in python/R instead of excel. Recruiters ping me expecting someone with a strong STEM background but I haven’t gone past pre-calc
:( feeling stuck catching up to kids with top degrees and fantastic majors
Hey, I can do cool visualizations in R and regressions, can I be a data scientist? By the way, I think the fact that you learned Python and R is a good sign that you’re not just a dumb consultant. You’ll be just fine.
