I received an offer (28 Lakhs + 3.9 Lakhs incentive) from Novartis for Sr Project Manager yesterday. This was just 13.6% more than my current earnings as Project Manager. I've given the reasons why I deserve at least 30% to HR. In response to that, HR has sent 2nd offer i.e. 29 Lakhs + 4 Lakhs incentive + 50k sign-on bonus. The 2nd offer is just 18.2% higher than my current earnings. Need your suggestion, if I could still negotiate with HR to finalize deal by asking for 25% hike?

Are there any tax professionals in the Lancaster, PA area that are looking to leave public? The recruiter for my company says there's no one out there and I get that a LCOL area in Pennsylvania won't have the applicant pool as a bigger city but I find it hard to believe there are no tax people available for the jobs we have.

Is there such thing as a true account role at major branding agencies? Ex. Interbrand, Landor, Pentagram...Sounds like in many cases it’s actually just PM under a different name.

Paralegals: what’s your least favorite thing about working with attorneys?

Hours check anyone? I’m at 1400 to date with pro bono. 2000 target. On track but September is looking slowwwww

For those that have no desire to ever go in-house, what are the reasons other than the pay cut? Or is that the only reason?

Are any other Clark Hill attorneys, especially midlevels and seniors, incredibly disappointed with comp this year? I know they are conservative generally and don’t pay market anywhere, but this is bad for them even.

Question: do y’all really love this stuff and understand it? Or are you all on the “fake it til you make it” wave? I ask because I’m in a specialty group under the Corporate umbrella and many of the partners and some senior associates are extremely smart and clearly enjoy this stuff. Some even do “night time reading” to catch up on the recent laws. I, on the other hand, cannot wrap my head around it most of the time and would rather not waste energy doing it. Is it just me? What do i do? Quit?

How many of you biglaw associates are on your grind trying to recruit people to earn a big referral bonus? I’m treating it like a side gig. Ironic that my firm does not give associates any kind of origination credit. If they took the same philosophy with business development, I would direct my efforts there too.!

When should a stub start getting worried about not having much work and low billable hours?
I’ve asked for work but no luck. I know they say this is normal for a stub but when should I start getting worried and consider looking for exit options? Fyi, I like my practice group, so I don’t want to change to a different group within my firm, hence would have to lateral, if I have to. Also, other co-1st years are churning in high hours.

Heads up to everyone in charge of these decisions: associates are desperate for you to allow us to WFH at least 1-2 days a week. Our managing partner said he’d be providing an update about getting back to the office soon and I wanted to jump off a bridge. Please do not force us to go back to the miserable existence of being in the office every single day. We are begging.

My firm’s IT (especially system saving and file locating function) is so bad 😐😞 and they keep doing updates no one asked them for just to mess with the stuff we already got a hang of without doing anything about the issues we actually need fixed. Anyone else in a similar boat? Do you bill the client for the time it takes to fix the IT issue (or IT inefficiency generally, like time taken to find a file in a convoluted system)? Or is that supposed to be our non-billable time?

Are we allowed to dish on how ineffective recruiters are? I’d really like to Yelp bomb a specific recruiter for being so ineffectual, unresponsive, negligent, and ghosting

I’m a first year litigation associate and have felt depressed for the past six months largely due to work. I landed what has been my dream job for years - a position at a music law firm - despite having no experience in the industry and no transactional background. My parents think I am committing career suicide by leaving Big Law so soon and working with non Ivy Leaguers. I think I’ve landed a once in a lifetime opportunity and can swing the pay cut since I have no student debt. Thoughts?

Do I have to stay in big law if I want to support my parents in their retirement? They basically have little to nothing saved and are 10 yrs from retirement age. I guess part of my question is how much does it cost to support low-spending folks while they’re in retirement (maybe at least by providing modest housing and paying for a couple trips for them to visit family every year)? Anyone have any experience with this?
