With you on that.
Emphasis on the “at least” — I am really hoping for no more than 2 days in the office.
Me too! My dog is also begging!
Associates are acknowledging that WFH has changed some things for the worst - like the expectation that you are at/around your computer 24/7. But going back to the office on a hybrid schedule should fix that.
P1 - agreed, that could also happen. Now we know that everyone has the capability of working productively at home and a lot of firms have updated their technology. I’m not sure how long people will last with that lifestyle though - nobody wants it.
Tbh, I think this negative is really not related to WFH. More of a there is a lock down and nothing to do thing. WFH without covid restrictions and kids back in school will / would be a significant QOL improvement.
Yes. That’s true.
I agree, but you kind of have to earn the right. I know there are some associates thinking “I don’t care what they say, I sit in my office alone and don’t see anyone and I get all my work done”. Well, news flash, they know who comes in the office. They know where you login and off from their systems everyday and someone has a report from that card reader you use to get in and out the building and floor each day. I love WFH, don’t care if my associates do it as long as they get work done, but I do know associates that try to game the system and don’t know these things. Furthermore, if you do good work, bills hours, and people love you, the last thing they want to talk to you about is working from the office in a “if you don’t then x will happen” as it will more likely be “your are looked up to, so if you don’t then no one will”.
Matters who you work for too, I’m sure younger partners don’t care if your across the hall or in Singapore as long as you get stuff done since we were the generation who learned how to maintain deep middle school relationships with people on AOL/AIM in the 90s with people we never spoke to and likely saw everyday (maybe that was just me) so WFH is like whatever.
I feel like I know exactly which partners at my firm are toxic enough to email the office service/IT people to ask for an associate’s tracking data in response to an associate feeling like they are overwhelmed with work. Lmao. (It’s very few, and they’re toxic in many other ways).
