Please who can refer me to a role with McKinsey?
Hi everyone, Does anyone know if there is a minimum number for months you will have to be in salesforce to be considered for promotion which usually happens in Feb-March? And do they promote people before Fem/March too? Actually I am offered a Technical Consultant position but I see on linkedin few people are joining as a Senior Technical Consultant at the same experience as me, so I am concerned a bit... You got it all wrong! It's BS because you're looking at it from a content point of view, as D1 said, it's art 🌺🎨. Who cares about the content if it looks beautiful?
Same! Seriously made me think half of the work is BS, such a different culture. I'm a glorified technical writer
P1 what I struggle with is lack of depth. We aren't building a product. If you have ever worked at a startup or tech firm no one has any time for slides. The focus is all on execution.
OP...so damn true. Every time we need to do something I hear, "have we created a document plan for blah blah" so fucking annoying. Can we jus do the work sometimes instead of documenting and planning how we're gonna do it constantly
P1 if you are PwC, please read the 💰💰salary thread and report back to HR.
Those who can, do. Those who can't just write decks.
Lolol @partner 1 just as cynical as the rest of us
Jokes aside, I share your frustration! I often feel the same way, I also had a much more technical job in the past and am used to focus on the content. Too often the slides take precedence over the content. But it really doesn't need to be so!
Currently working with a partner whose philosophy is the same as Partner 1 here––its glorious. He'll spend an hour talking about one of the numbers but I'm pretty sure I've never heard him say the word 'font'
A1 feel the same way.
I love my slide art tho 😍
The deck is nothing but glorified art work. Content is garbage and cannot be used.
Slides with shitty content are a complete waste of time. If we actually include information that helps build the framework and assist the teams that execute, then that is at least providing value and ideally we are getting the clients to consider all implications and we can identify risks. I've seen too many pointless slide decks where nothing originates from them. My goal is to mostly work on those that add value.
Here's a simple test for anyone that has ever delivered a real solution. Did you use a deck to guide you?
Me me me. Complete BS
A2. I've been on both sides and yes. We have used decks to build a framework and it presentable to clients.
