A) Don't feel guilty part of the agreement you made is for the fact that you get Pto
B) if you don't take time off you won't be as productive later and ultimately hurt your team more
C) You need to find balance or you will burn out fast trust me
Work to live, don’t live to work
Weird
Sorry… but it’s not you, it’s the culture not at your firm necessarily but on your project/team. I set examples on my team. Took a week off in April, and taking another off late May. Good luck with your internal battle but what I would suggest is to find something meaningful while your on PTO so you come back energized and ready to tackle work. That’s more beneficial for any leader than you feeling obligated to work while on PTO.
Turn the laptop off completely, and don’t bring it with you. I find it much easier not to respond if my laptop is inaccessible, even if I get the messages on my phone
Or maybe it’s because you haven’t found the meaning of life yet
Set boundaries. My work laptop is off and stays off after-hours, weekends, and any PTO.
