I second this. And just like other social media, LinkedIn is not a networking platform, it’s an advertising platform. It’s engineered to keep users engaged and active. And negative emotions result in better numbers.
Comparison is the thief of joy
That’s the whole purpose. Don’t fall for it. Some of the most accomplished people I know don’t say a word on LinkedIn. Understand your accomplishments and value through the people you work with and for and your friends and family.
Yup. Would amend to *all* of the accomplished people say little to nothing. If your CCO posts more than once over a two week period, we’re all assuming your agency is in trouble and we’re saying so in group chats.
It’s a lot of falsehoods anyway
LinkedIn has been good to me, use it to get your thinking out there, connect with other people, pick up side hustles
Once you start getting invites to keynote talks and workshops you can get some nice pocket money on the side
It’s a good place to be noticed and create a career platform. Try to flip it in your mind and use it to boost your voice. Also, I have gotten a lot of leads and interviews from LinkedIn. I also like making contacts across the globe and starting conversations.
Just some suggestions if you’re looking to use it differently.
I might make my LinkedIn profile about all the mistakes I’ve made just to stand out.

LinkedIn makes people seem more important than they actually are. Take it in moderation.
It’s not you, it’s the toxic positivity that has rendered it totally grating.
There’s no unhappy reaction choices, like really??
Because it’s designed to make you feel that way so you buy premium to try and get an edge. It’s really that simple.

Just saw a very vulnerable post from a very accomplished creative talking about struggles in this current marketplace. I think there is more than just bragging in there. Some good stuff to reflect on happens from time to time. It's not all doom and gloom.

LinkedIn is a necessary evil. It’s human nature to compare ourselves against others. There’s a job out there for all of us. Good luck
I hear you and experience the same thing from time to time. However, more recently, I feel the opposite when scrolling LinkedIn. So many coworkers being laid off or struggling to find work. It’s certainly an employers market and it frightens me at the thought of being jobless in this economy.
From my experience, the folks doing the least are the ones saying they the most. I once worked at an agency where a “thought leader” worked. Never saw him at any briefs, new biz pitches, client meetings, nothing. But man, you’d think he was the center of the universe based on his LinkedIn presence. Don’t fall for it.
These guys are the dementors of ad agencies. You have to not give them what they want, while making it sound like you’re giving them what they want.

Go out and eat 5 lbs of chocolate and see how you feel.
