Thank you. Be the change. ;_;
I will say technically the lines are red, blue and green (at least if you’re doing it properly in workshare compare, the one true software) but still “redline” makes 200x more sense than “blackline”.

A8, I also do any handmarkups in purple for this reason! Excellent life choices. (Or am I the transactional associate you adopted this from 🤔)
One of my partners calls it whatever color the edits show up.... greenline, blueline, purpleline. That is probably the most technically accurate, but it drives me nuts. Redline or bust! (I should also add he has corrected me when saying “redline” to be like “no, it’s purpleline” at which point, I give up 😂😂😂)
😭😭 these are the things that make me beyond annoyed when a partner’s favorite word is “efficiency.” H O W
It dates back to before email when markups were done by hand and then B&W photocopied for distribution to supervisors. The lines were all black. Only one old partner says that here.
(It’s because it’s what the judge on his matter and the rest of his team use but it’s still like nails on a chalkboard every time)
Lol. Half of my partners call if blackline, the other half call it redline. I’ve learned what to call it for each partner.
They’ve asked me to do it. I don’t question it.
Aren’t they interchangeable (serious question)? I’m feel like some attorneys like to say the opposite of what I say just because.
“BLACKLINE” (lol @ autocorrect automatically putting that in all caps) sounds pretentious to me

I like your despotic style. You ever consider running for King of Everything?

I’m a boomer. I only see in black and white.
Old people say blackline. Us young millennials use redline

“Young millennials” 😂 excuse me while I straighten my side part
Is this a boomer thing?
Generally Banking lawyers call it Blackline and others not so much
Canadian lawyers only say blackline. Redline is a US thing
Think it’s because blackline sounds more polite. Redline sounds like you corrected something and the doc is bleeding. Blackline sounds more neutral. At least that’s the theory one partner told me and I liked it. Hate the term redline

“In today’s world, there’s rarely an instance where it makes sense to refer to a redlined document as blacklined” 👏👏
You can really tell people’s age by who calls it a black line… but I agree with someone else. I call it whatever the partner calls it.
We generally say “run a comparison” in our office 🤷🏼♂️
Either a comparison or blackline. People tend to know what you’re talking about and I really don’t think they give it that much thought.
