B-school is the modern embodiment of sunk cost fallacy. That’s why people drink the kool aid so hard and then try to sell it afterwards.
I am the partner leading my firm’s regional MBA recruiting. 😀
We’re in the relationship business. Some people going to B-school understand that. Some people go to B-school because they think they are there to learn. It’s pretty easy to figure out very quickly if someone is going to be a consultant or an engineer/project manager.
I’m “humbled and honored” to be able to pick from a pre-downselected group of highly intelligent and smart candidates so I can focus solely on the criteria of sales vs delivery at this point.
It's not people who go to business school, it's people who post on LinkedIn.

"I am humbled and honored to have been invited to lead a roundtable discussion on leveraging the power of contemporary corporate speak."
I feel sorry for em-dashes in all of this. They’re collateral damage. So sad to me.
Businesses School is drinking the Kool-Aid, after all.
Unfortunately I think the era of an MBA truly meaning something is coming to a close (coming from a T15 grad myself). The high esteem of a top notch degree has been slowly declining since the golden ticket days of the 90’s, but the influx of the paper mills and online accessibility has accelerated it.
People can justify it however they like, but the entire system has become diluted.
This is how it looks to me as well. I still value the education of people who actually learn the MBA curriculum (not every graduate does), but the strength of the prestige signal has diminished greatly.
Because we are awesome of course.
If it’s a bschool vs non-bschool manager, I pick the latter most times bc they have more grit and don’t have whatever ego is fed at bschool.
Hmm
Strange, right.
Yes. Super weird
Linked In is rage bait.
Because it’s what they think investors want to see
Clearly, they all know something that we don’t. Right?
Some, not all. Maybe even most.
Biz school should teach you key concepts at advanced levels across a broad spectrum. And then include experience from faculty (and ideally peers) with a wrapper of some goals or strategies. But for many it turns them into biz robots with less independent thought.
It is funny to ask newly minted mba to explain something without using mba-speak. Like watching their brain short-circuit.
I will not stop laughing when AI torpedoes 90% of the lizard class.
Are you not reptilian, Director?
It's CTE (I have CTE)
