Got a random email from a supposed Amazon recruiter for a SDE position (which is not at all a fit). The email is amazon.com domain and there are no red flags in the body but it doesn't feel like an Amazon recruiter due to the tacky signature, etc. Has anyone seen this kind of cold-calling from FAANG recruiter?

I made them an offer they couldn’t refuse.
Negotiated down to one cow and a sack of rice.
I created a slide deck presenting the various post-merger synergy opportunities our families would have and there were no pls fix remarks so I took that as their blessing
Yea they don’t need to see that deep-dive into the figures

Why would I have done that? It was her choice/our decision to make as a couple.
I respect that, we’re just old fashioned.

I didn’t, because my wife probably wouldn’t have said yes if I had. It was nobody’s choice to make but ours.
I made a similar comment above, I respect and see exactly where you are coming from, we’re both just a bit old fashioned.

Good for you OP - marriage should always start with due respect to the parents and families 👏🏻
C2, I appreciate the comment. I have her parents respect right now, I’d just hate to screw anything up.
Not sure it applies, but if her parents are foreign you will get major bonus points for asking in their more comfortable language. My wife is Colombian and I memorized how to ask in Spanish and to this day I can do no wrong as far as her mom is concerned.
Took her dad out for dinner & told him what was up. Didn’t bother with her mom cause she hated me. We cool now tho so it’s all good
My best friend in high school got his girlfriend pregnant in our senior year of high school - with triplets. Family of five before they were 18 - can you imagine?
He went to her father before they were born to ask permission to marry her. His response? “If you didn’t, boy, I was gonna come beat and kidnap you”. Improbably, they’re still married, 20 years later. That the triplets are in college makes me feel elderly.
That’s pretty awesome. Most such relationships I know ruined mainly from financial burden from raising a family without getting proper education. Your friend is not the norm.

Took her dad to a whiskey distillery
I lived half way across the US, so I ended up just calling one day.
I asked her if she thought I should ask them, she threatened my life. I assumed I was good to go at that point.
I took the parents and her younger brother to a nice dinner and told them I intend to ask your daughter and sister to marry me and if they would accept me into their family. They happily did. They were a bit taken aback that I asked permission but I told them it was important to me for them to want me in their lives too. They took it as very sweet. The next weekend I proposed while on vacation. Here we are 12 years later!
Ended up calling it off, but when I was thinking about it with a previous SO, I just showed them the ring and they smiled and cried.
Went over to her parent's one day after work while she was still at work. Asked her mum and dad for their blessing :). Then invited them to the engagement party I had organized.
Not at all. I'm Chinese and it's very common to ask.
Took them to a bar
I flew to my then gf’s country and spent a week with her parents.
Ask them? Idk

In the process of trying to figure this out now!

I’m stuck with both haha
She lives with her parents and due to COVID it’s not like she’s going out to see friends where I can just go over there and ask while she’s away
Also no idea what to say...me and her parents are introverted people
