Why is EY technology so bad? Can’t stand it!

Whatever you’re working with has to be better than Caseware.

Anything more advanced than Windows 7 is overrated anyhow. Faster computers = less utilization - who wants that?

That’s exactly what I’m dealing with - EYTaxSpace! Hate it with every fiber of my heart! It’s a pure waste of time!

like

Try EYTaxSpace. It's rough and the people who run it are on pure kool aid and refuse to knowledge it's limitations. 'We replaced the old AW with 3 new process because 3 is better than 1 and way more efficient' that's the basic line they feed you.

Haha yeah good luck OP. they say to reach out to your local champion or read their stuff on the share point site. Neither one is much help and your manager is going to freak out when they get the workpapers to review. Basically you now have 2 workpapers, the data flow and then a support for the data flow. Again, taking one thing and turning it into multiple things is the mantra here.

EY3, I know it’s a disaster. We could have done all the work in just a few hours but now it takes us 3 days! Makes no sense.

Haha yeah a small return that would take a staff about 8 hours to prep an AW, prep a return, and get that draft to the Sr now easily takes 3 days. You need to re code the whole TB, push that from GLM to your data flow, take your m calcs from your supporting workbook and populate your data flow, push the return to oit, hope that it doesn't wipe the PY for your balance sheet, try to figure out why everything didn't push correctly and then repeat the process for each update you have. Again, 'more is better because it's more efficient.'

Worked with EY Tax technology when I onboarded a new client to Uncle D for 3 months, I fully agree. Smaller accounting firms have better technology than EY does.

Last family counseling meeting we are discussing the GPS and it’s pretty bad but the thing that drew the partners eye was the positive score people gave ey technology. He did not agree with that.

OMG, I named NO help desk:( Disaster:(

EY3, that sounds horrible. We are using PE/RE allocation module and it’s just awful. But it’s imposed from the top, can’t do anything about it.

@AS1 Caseware is the jam! You've definitely never used Prosystem or Engagement to make that statement.

CH1, I think ProSystem Tax is better than GoSystem which we use.

Onesource income tax isn't bad. It has a steep learning curve but it does a great job for corporate stuff. It's all the EY specific workpapers that are crap. Also, I like gosystem too.

Am I the only one whose time entries get worse the busier and more chaotic a specific case is? Like for example preparation for a dispositive hearing with a lot of factual and legal issues that’s treated like a fire drill. My time entries are chaotic and rereading at the end of the month I feel like the time was totally justified but also like wow it sounds like we were jumping all over the place and we were, lol time entries were not your typical sequential one step at a time thing.

Stress is causing a massive flare-up of racing thoughts recently. I feel like it's been at least a week or two since I last was able to completely clear my mind. And if it's not random stream-of-consciousness mess, it's music. Ever had a song stuck in your head? Because I've had one for four days now. Driving me nuts. Anyone else struggle with this/have a solution?

All these weddings are blowing my mind and budget. I've had 5 weddings so far this year with several more to go by EoY. On top of that I've been asked to be in a lot of them which adds additional time commitment and cost. The cost of a bachelor party + shitty men's warehouse suit rental + travel and airbnb for the weekend + couple hundred bucks for wedding gift means I'm blowing tons of money for these weddings but I feel bad to say no.
