I've been on a couple webcasts now that say, "just one extra charge hour each week from each one of our people will equate to $XX,XXX,XXX ($20MM I think was the number), so do you best to find one extra charge hour each week!" And I'm just sitting there thinking - look, I do the work that's in front of me. Are you wanting me to just make up a charge hour each week? Should I slow down? If you want me to have more charge hours, THEN FREAKING BRING IN MORE WORK!! The partners and SM's should be driving more business, and when they don't the buck gets passed on to lower level individuals for not charging enough hours? It's such a freaking joke.
I've found that the annual raise correlates most with how your region performs. For example, West region has been doing pretty well and our raises have been reflecting that.
