I have done a lot of work in this space as part of international organizations and it’s heartbreaking where we are headed. On an individual level, I try to do as much as I can to reverse this, but the significant impact will have to come from governments and corporations. Each year keeps getting warmer and I am going to just melt at this rate 😟

It is real.
Oh well… if we go extinct, we go extinct. It’s good for the planet anyway.
Scared and anxious as hell hbu

Think we are screwed. Had we started to make significant progress 10-20 yrs ago. Maybe but we continue to argue over all this basic idea. Honestly I think about not having kids even though I want them because I feel like I be dooming them to a dying world. No trying to hyperbolic. Just my observation
Already had them (7 and 5 years ago), but wouldn't if I were making the same choice today. It was dicey at the time, the trajectory is firmly and irrevocably bad now, both in terms of the physical situation and global political will.
Very real and we are in deep trouble. Actually really believe there is no going back and we will see suffering in our lifetime like very few generations before us. And for those who survive, there will be no rebuilding, only surviving at any rate they can.

Good luck to you too, KPMG2. I am obviously not worthy, but hopefully "real" consultants from Deloitte, EY and PwC will engage with you on the level of intellectual curiosity you are accustomed to.
Just started spending $25 each month to negate 150% of emissions I'm responsible for

The global economy is rooted in industry and consumption, we're never going to materially change the course of human existence and we will go extinct, not before Besos colonizes another planet.

It’s always a fun social experiment to make a one word post and see who the angry people are and what assumptions they make from a single post. I believe climate change is real, serious, and lots of hoaxes out there by far right conservatives. But go on, procurement consultant, this is entertaining

It’s real.
I do think there are 3 groups of people, 1)the ones that don't believe it until it impacts them (fires and flooding at their front door), 2)ones that think fires and floods are natural even if it burns their house down, and 3) ones that looks at data, facts, and long-term thinking. While fires and floods do exist in the past, it's the frequency and extremity that is scary. This is something that deniers are not able to comprehend. As consultants who solve deep problems, we are seeing organizations investing in climate change because they know it is impacting their $. When you see large corporations, including oil companies spending money on this, it's a problem that needs to be solved. https://amp-cnn-com.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s/amp.cnn.com/cnn/2021/08/23/weather/us-western-wildfires-monday/index.html?amp_gsa=1&_js_v=a6&usqp=mq331AQKKAFQArABIIACAw%3D%3D#amp_tf=From%20%251%24s&aoh=16297618782312&referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com&share=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.cnn.com%2F2021%2F08%2F23%2Fweather%2Fus-western-wildfires-monday%2Findex.html
“That unapparent summer air in early fall…”
I’m not worried for myself but I still do my part by reducing our carbon footprint for those left behind.
We (humans) will at some point use particulates to block the sun. It's the only card left.
Whether it's a coordinated global effort, or just one or a few superpowers going it alone, remains to be seen.
Whether it results in the Matrix or some other things-got-out-of-hand-dystopia, also remains to be seen.

It’s an issue but we’ll adapt and figure it out, we always have.
Some kid currently in 2nd grade will have a breakthrough moment and we’ll engineer our way out of it

^This is part of the problem. We can't assume that we will figure it out. And that some savior will come and fix everything. By time that kid come into existence the planet may already be screwed. And we don't know if this kid will ever exist. But we can make change now to at least make it possible for another generation to survive

Scared me tbh. Idk what to do about it though.

Try to reduce your individual footprint. Recycling, install solar if you can afford, buy from companies that make support green efforts, reduce the amount of red meat you eat, especially cows. Then vote political for candidates that support green efforts from a national strategic prospective. Like we just had an opportunity as a country to put our money where matters but stoneage boomers (and not I'm not shitting on boomers just these ones) who don't care cause it doesn't effect them.
